What goes in Particulars of Claim
Every money claim in the county court needs Particulars of Claim. The rules (CPR Part 16) ask for four things, in short numbered paragraphs:
- The facts: who you are, who the defendant is, what was agreed, and what went wrong, in date order.
- The amount: what you are claiming and how it is worked out.
- Interest: usually claimed under section 69 of the County Courts Act 1984 at 8% per year.
- A statement of truth: your signed confirmation that the facts are true.

What are Particulars of Claim?

What must Particulars of Claim include?
Under Civil Procedure Rules Part 16 they must include a concise statement of the facts you rely on, the amount you are claiming and how it is worked out, any interest you claim (usually under section 69 of the County Courts Act 1984 at 8% per year), and a statement of truth signed by you.
Is this generator really free?
Yes. You answer a few questions, we draft the document, and you can copy it or have it emailed to you free. If you want us to prepare and file the whole claim for you, checked and done properly, that service starts at £39 plus the court fee.
Can I write Particulars of Claim myself?
Yes. Thousands of people file county court claims as litigants in person every year. The court expects short numbered paragraphs and plain facts, not legal jargon. This tool gives you that structure so you only need to check the facts are right.
What happens after I file?
The court issues your claim and serves it on the defendant, who has 14 days to respond. If they do not respond you can request judgment in default. If they pay, you are done. If they defend, the court will guide both sides to a hearing or mediation.
